ActiveFlow transformed its business in just one month during COVID by moving from a free Instagram channel into a subscription-based platform. The project included UX/UI design in Figma, Webflow development with CMS, and integrations with Memberstack, Vimeo, and NodeBB to deliver a sleek digital solution for live training, subscriptions, and community features.
Overview
When the COVID pandemic hit, ActiveFlow’s founder saw the opportunity to pivot from free workouts on Instagram to a scalable subscription platform. With a fast-growing audience of 15k followers at the time, the challenge was to quickly launch a system that could monetize this community while delivering a high-quality digital experience.
The platform offered subscriptions at €6 per week or €20 per month and rapidly attracted around 1000 subscribers, generating a strong recurring revenue stream. The website became the central hub for all training sessions, workshops, and community interactions. Users could access exclusive workouts, watch live training sessions, and join a members-only forum designed to create a sense of family and belonging. The entire project was completed in about three weeks, proving the value of design and technology in enabling businesses to adapt quickly during uncertain times.
Challenge
The main challenge was the extremely short timeline: to design, develop, and launch a fully functional subscription platform in just three weeks. The platform had to balance monetization and usability, offering a smooth payment flow, gated access, and high-quality live streaming without losing the community-driven spirit that had originally built ActiveFlow’s audience.
Solution / Approach
The project began with UX/UI design in Figma, where flows were mapped to make the subscription journey as frictionless as possible. Once approved, the platform was developed in Webflow with CMS to manage dynamic content. Memberstack integration enabled gated access and subscription plans, while Vimeo provided reliable live streaming directly through the website.
To reinforce the community aspect, NodeBB was integrated as a members-only forum, giving subscribers a dedicated space to connect, share, and support one another. The visual identity reflected ActiveFlow’s energetic style, while the digital experience was designed to be modern, interactive, and highly responsive across devices.
